As part of my research, I occasionally develop tools and scripts that may benefit others working in similar areas. When these resources are ready for public use, I make them available here.
You may redistribute, rehost, and redesign any of my software and programming tools. However, any use or redistribution would be appreciated with an acknowledgement and a link to this website (https://zeningduan.com/software/).
1. vEMD is a Python package that measures moral content from any format of text, from short media posts to longer ones like news articles, speech transcripts, etc. It offers a more flexible approach and three key metrics (moral strength, moral valence, and moral ambivalence). It is open-source and available here. Read our manuscript (Political Analysis, forthcoming) for more about vEMD.
2. Tweet-ID-Extractor. This user-friendly Python script is designed to extract tweet ID information from raw Synthesio data files. It can be easily repurposed to process other types of raw social media monitoring data files.
3. GDELT_scraper. This Python script is designed to facilitate data downloads from the GDELT event website. About GDELT event data (supported by Google Jigsaw): https://www.gdeltproject.org/. We redistribute, rehost, republish, and mirror GDELT datasets in accordance with GDELT’s terms of use.
